Jim is survived by his son, Billy (Holly) Reeder of Cedar Rapids his daughter, Heather Osburn of Marshalltown three brothers, Rick (Bobbie) Reeder of Gladbrook, Charlie (Ann) Bidwell of Marshalltown, and David (Ginny) Bidwell of Grinnell two sisters, Diana Reeder of Tama, and Tracy (Rob) Clark of Tama five grandchildren, Tristen, Bailey, Jocelyn, Mason and Lainey five stepbrothers two stepsisters many nieces and nephews and extended family two aunts, Pat Wall of Tama, and Phyllis Morrow of Toledo and a great-aunt Carol Robinson of Newton. William was born to the late William Daniel Reeder and Ida Kennedy Reeder on December 24, 1927. Beyond the torment and pain of his ordeal, Reeder’s story is one of courage, hope and survival. He cared for all those he knew and was selfless in his actions, lending a hand whenever needed and providing shelter and love to anyone in need. Jim enjoyed time spent outdoors with family and friends. He loved motorcycles, shooting, and western movies. Jim worked for JBS (Swift) in Marshalltown for twenty-five years. He graduated from South Tama High School. James was born on February 7, 1956, in Newton, Iowa, the son of Floyd William and Doris Jean (Janssen) Reeder. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Novemfrom 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. He had flown armed, fixed-wing OV-1 Mohawks on secret missions deep into enemy territory in Laos, Cambodia, and North Vietnam on his first tour. Reeder was a senior captain on his second tour in Vietnam.
